Living in the moment is something I’ve been reflecting on lately. In our fast-paced world, it’s easy to get caught up in future wants or dreams. But the truth is, the only moment we truly have is the present.
Buddhism teaches us the importance of being fully present. Buddha said, “Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.” This reminds me that happiness and peace come from embracing the here and now, rather than constantly looking back or planning ahead.
Living in the moment doesn’t mean ignoring responsibilities or letting go of future goals. It simply means taking time to appreciate the now. It’s about finding joy in the simple things. For me, it’s a morning gym session, fresh coffee, a beach walk (or sea swim), being creative, chatting with good people, or enjoying a peaceful moment alone or with loved ones.
Being present allows us to truly experience life, instead of just rushing through it, or placing happiness in a time or place we may never arrive at.
So… what makes you happy?
