Keeping Creative

Keeping Creative

Posted in: Life

Earlier this week I received an amazing email from English lead at St Thomas More’s Primary School in Havant. Here is an extract:

I came across your poem: The Southsea Seagull and shared it with my Year 6 children and they just absolutely loved it. They loved the references to Southsea – they couldn’t believe someone had written about the Seagulls in Southsea and were very much in agreement that they always know where the chips are. Their love and happiness from this poem has made me get in touch.

As if this email hadn’t already brightened my week, I later received a collection of artwork the children had worked on linked to my poem. Such a talented group of kids, thank you very much!

Keeping creative is important. For the young it nurtures imagination, problem-solving skills, encourages exploration and experimentation. Similarly, for us older folk, creativity promotes cognitive health and provides opportunities for learning and self-expression. So there you have it, a little creativity can be good for us all.

Now for the fun part, a collection of artwork from St Thomas More’s Primary School.

I absolutely love swimming with my youngest son after school down at Southsea Beach. Lately, I’ve been feeling a bit overwhelmed with work and ideas swirling around in my head.
